In 2001, Matt Moline built his first bow in his high school shop class. A few hand tools and some direction from his shop teacher, helped him craft his first of what was to be many bows later in life. It was also in this same shop class that Matt learned basic metal working skills, that are instrumental in his work today.
From there, Matt began rebuilding a variety of hand tools and in an effort to understand the work of the men that created them in the past. Reclaimed axe heads, hammers and knives where just a few of the many items that he collected over the years and still does to this day.
In his self study, Matt learned key skills in wood working and metal forging that was mostly forgotten or not practiced in this day and age. Frustrated with mass-produced tools and goods, Matt started to make his own tools, knifes, bows and axes in a response to his own needs. Soon realizing later that others where also looking for items like this, a business was born to help with the need. Sparrow Gear was born.
His creativity is fueled by his passion for wood and metal working. "It's all about giving people the tools they need for their outdoor adventure" Matt says. "Creating heirloom-quality products is what its all about."
Sparrow Gear is located in Algonac, Michigan, and is built on a foundation of fine craftsmanship and hard work.
